Dr. Khitam Shraim Participates in a Workshop on Learning and Teaching in Budapest

Between the 6th and 11th of June, Dr. Khitam Shraim, Director of the Center of Excellence in Learning and Teaching at An-Najah University, participated in a workshop titled “Teaching and Learning: Policies and Practices Adopted in Developing the Teaching Staff”. The workshop was held at the Central European University in Budapest, Hungary under the supervision of AMIDEAST.

 

A number of researchers and academics from Palestine, Russia, Azerbaijan, Ukraine, Georgia and Romania participated in the workshop. The Palestinian team consisted of Dr. John Shumaker, Chief of Party of the Palestinian Faculty Development Program (PFDP), Dr. Shraim, Dr. Hussein Jadou’ from Al-Quds University, Dr. Sami Basha from Hebron University, as well as Dr. Adnan Shehadeh and Dr. Suhail Sultan from Palestine Polytechnic University.

Trainers in the workshop included Juana Rio, Turney Roxa, Tatiana Barkova and Matthews Zaio. The workshop addressed several subjects including: Modern trends in developing university learning and teaching, the strategies of professional development of university staff, policies and practices followed in developing the academic staff, as well as the leadership concepts needed to develop university staff. The participants also studied and evaluated the development of university education.

At the end of the workshop, the Palestinian delegation presented a proposal for a joint project titled “The National Intellectual Dialogue with respect to Excellence in University Education”.
