On Thursday, September 26th The Center for Excellence in Learning and Teaching at An Najah National University organized a workshop titled Linking Curriculums to the Local Community. The workshop was attended by Dr. Abdel- Kareem Daraghmeh, the Director of the Center, Dr. Jawad Fatayer, Dr. Samar Musmar, Dr. Emad Dawas, Dr. Yahya Saleh, Dr. Abdulraziq Natsheh of the Faculty of Engineering and Information Technology, Dr. Zaher Nazzal of the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, Dr. Nimr Khuraim of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Dr. Farid Abu Dheir of the Faculty of Economics and Social Sciences, and Maysa Abu Zant of the Faculty of Educational Sciences. Each one of the attendees has been preparing their faculties’ study plans to be implemented in partnership with the community.
Dr. Nimr Khuraim presented about his vision of involving his course in the community through the focus of epidemiological surveillance as well as the reduction of epidemics. This would be accomplished through updating the statistical information available on the resources of cows along with other animal resources in the Tulkarm Governorate in cooperation with the Department of Veterinary and the Governorate Office.
Dr. Farid Abu Dheir introduced his vision on developing a press release course by having students design advertisements for small companies in Nablus.
The workshop Linking Curriculums to the Local Community focused on the involvement of An Najah University and its students in the surrounding community in order to benefit local organizations and institutions as well as improve the learning outcomes of students.
