Family & Community Medicine

Course Description and Aim

Community Medicine provides comprehensive health services ranging from preventive, promotive, curative to rehabilitation services. Not just of the individual but for the community at large

The aim of the course is to enable the student to observe and to understand health problems, the health system, and a population health approach in the context of the community setting. The goals of a population health approach are to maintain and improve the health status of an entire population and to reduce inequities in health status between population groups.

 

Project Description and Aim (Assessment of the Surveillance System at the PHC/ Nablus Directorate)

Surveillance is one of the most important public health tools used to prevent and control communicable diseases. Surveillance data should be valid and complete and submitted on time so that effective prevention and control measures can be initiated promptly.

  • The partner is the Ministry of Health through Primary Health Directorate in Nablus

The aim of this project is to evaluate the surveillance notification and investigation forms for timeliness of notification and completeness of data in order to improve the quality of the surveillance system in Nablus Health Directorate.
